Dear Brides, this one is for you. We understand how overwhelming it can be to plan your wedding to perfection. Too many things demand your attention although the general opinion may state that a bride doesn’t have to do anything. Your wedding is one of the most important days and you deserve to enjoy each and every moment of it, not be busy making sure that everything is n order. We have put together a few tips to help you get through the day without a worry.
1. Prioritise - delegate - relax
Keep your to-do list ready much in advance. Take one thing at a time. Work on your most important tasks first – venue, dress, food, music, make-up, photography etc. Keep it simple. Don’t go overboard. Peace of mind is important. Plan and delegate tasks much in advance to avoid last minute stress. Else things can get pretty messed up, like it happened with a friend of mine. She spent the morning helping with getting the breakfast ready with some relatives for the wedding guests as they had overlooked hiring a cook for the morning.
P.S. A quick tip for venue booking. Book your wedding venues in Mumbai through hamaraevent.com for a convenient and relaxed venue booking experience.
2. Don’t look for perfection.
Breathe easy and relax after the planning process is done. Don’t fret about the small details. That’s not going to allow you to actually experience every precious moment of your day. After all you are supposed to enjoy your day surrounded by your loved ones. Relax about the events as you have willing and helping hands nearby. Ultimately it is the memories of the times you spend with them that day, that will be remembered and not the little details of décor or menu. Sometimes the best moments are those or which happen unexpectedly. So chill.
3. Have your bridal emergency kit ready
It’s always better to be prepared. Don’t let a few loose strands, fading lip colour or wardrobe snags ruin your day. Pack a little kit with a few handy items like safety pins, hairclips and brush, hair spray, deodorant, tissues, band aids, nail clipper etc. What do you think? Useful?
4. Have your pictures taken before the ceremony.
It is one thing to do a pre wedding shoot and another to take some clicks before the ceremony. Both are equally important. Getting a pre-wedding portfolio done is not an issue. It can be planned in advance. Before the ceremony, get away from the usual wedding morning madness and take some moments to allow yourself and your would-be to feel each other’s presence. If it’s not in your culture to see the groom before the ceremony, you can at least do away with your single pictures or those with your loved ones when you are still fresh for the day. Also, this will give you more time to spend with your guests after the wedding.
P.S. If you can plan ahead, you could even plan the location for the pictures to be any other than the wedding ceremony venue. You could go to the beach or use the wedding lawns in Mumbai attached to the wedding venue etc
5. Don’t forget to eat
So important yet so often forgotten. The bride gets so caught up with the events of the day; the guests etc that she hardly gets to grab a bite. You may not be able to sit through a full course meal but every now and then munch on something. Arrange with your caterer beforehand so that hunger should not be an issue. Moreover, it’s not just hunger; you could feel ill, irritable and tired. Ensure one of your friends or cousins helps you with this.
6. Have a moment with each of your parents.
During the ceremony, the family becomes so busy in the rituals and attending to guests that hardly any time is spent together. Make time. Spend a few moments with each of your parents. They would appreciate it and treasure these memories forever.
7. Take a moment of alone time after the ceremony
Similarly, take some time off after your wedding ceremony and spend a few quiet moments alone with your new husband. Let it all sink in, exchange a few words and just savor the moment. Later you may get too busy with attending to your guests and may not have time for each other. Years later you will cherish these little moments.
8. Hire a wedding coordinator for the D-day.
It's best to let someone else take responsibility of the wedding timeline and events. Your wedding coordinator allows you to have everything in order and relax at the same time. This leaves you with more time to spend with your friends and family. Sounds good?
P.S. Alternatively you could let your wedding coordinator manage further venue arrangements as well. A friend of mine hired a wedding planner to book her reception hall in Mumbai as she was new to Mumbai. It helped a lot in putting her mind at ease.
9. Mind your feet
Remember you are going to be on your feet most of the time. Yes, those classy heels look grand. Use them all you like. Especially for your wedding pictures. But it would be a good idea to carry along a pair of sophisticated flats that go with your wedding dress as well, for those times when your feet can’t stop complaining. Stress your feet and it will reflect on your face. Try and be as comfortable as possible on your special day.
10. Don't forget to smile!
Greet and meet all your guests with a smile. Even if it’s a distant cousin who is not your favourite. A bride always looks beautiful with a smile on her face. You may take this opportunity to thank your friends and family and guests especially those who have traveled from a distance to be with you on your most important occasion for making this occasion so memorable.
While there are still numerous little tips that a bride may keep in mind during her wedding, the above ten are considerably essential to keeping stress at bay. Planning ahead is the key. Usually, once you have selected your wedding venue and date, the rest will fall into place.
