What could be better than a wedding in one of the most happening cities of the world? A rooftop wedding in the financial capital of this country, overlooking the hustle below you and having the mesmerizing skyline stare back at you. One of the advantages of marrying on a rooftop is, if you’re like really rich, you can just call a helicopter to pick you up and take you away to chill after the ceremony. Jokes apart, here’s a list of seven such venues you can tie the knot at in Mumbai and have a dream-come-true wedding.
1) Hotel Sun City Residency - (Andheri East)
The outdoor venue of Sun City Residency has a floating capacity of 450 people and a rooftop capacity of 250 people. They have a dedicated parking with the option of valet parking. The venue is also fully Wi-Fi enabled with a green room. The hotel allows a DJ and helps procure a license for the same. Alcohol and non-vegetarian food are not allowed at this venue.
2) Hotel Godwin - The Rooftop (Colaba)
Hotel Godwin overlooks the Grand Taj Mahal Palace, the Gateway of India and the ever so busy the Arabian Sea. Even the great Taj can’t offer such a great rooftop view! It has a rooftop capacity of 150 people and a parking to deal with the same. Although only vegetarian food is allowed here, alcohol is served here but only with a permit. The rooftop comes equipped with a music system and a DJ is allowed to play music till 11 pm as is the standard limit. The venue timings extend till 12:30 am. Inside the glass doors, the terrace is equipped with air conditioners to battle heat in summer.
3) Mac Queens - (Bandra West)
For a venue that’s located in one of the chicest areas, Mac Queens seems to be pretty conservative in their approach towards weddings. Alcohol and non-vegetarian food aren’t allowed at this venue, but it’s equipped with a music system for a DJ to spin some latest peppy dance numbers. The outdoor venue also has a stage for the vidhi-mandap so that the bride and groom can be seen by everyone. The floating capacity of this venue is 500 people. Valet parking is also available.
4) Salt Water Cafe - (Bandra West)
The Salt Water Cafe is a cafe that has an excellent rooftop view which doubles up as a wedding venue during event nights. The view from here is spectacular with a ton of greenery around. It’s located near the famous Lilavati Hospital. Alcohol is allowed at this venue and their specialty is cocktails with premium spirits. They have a state-of-the-art music system for a DJ to play. The floating capacity of the venue is only 70 so it’s ideal for a relatively close-knit affair with family and friends instead of the usual gala. Only vegetarian food is served here and parking services aren’t available.
5) Comfort Inn Heritage Hotel - Roof Graden (Byculla)
The floating rooftop capacity of this hotel is around 350 people. The rooftop has a wide angle view of the city and is truly pleasing to the eyes. Backed by a generator in case of a power cut, the venue also boasts of a green room and a music system. The hotel has a huge parking lot dedicated to its guests. The venue has a fleet of experienced wedding planners and managers to help you with everything related to your event. Non-vegetarian food and alcohol aren’t permitted.
6) ITC Grand Central - Terrace Garden (Parel)
Featured in one of our previous lists also, the ITC Grand Central has a famed and polished banquet hall. Equally sophisticated is their terrace garden on the rooftop. If you book the banquet hall and terrace garden, the total floating capacity is of 750 people. But the terrace garden has a floating capacity of 350 people. The hotel has a green room and a dedicated parking only for its guests. The entire venue is Wi-Fi enabled. Non-vegetarian food and alcohol are not served at weddings. Although the venue doesn’t have its own DJ, they have a permit to play music till 11 pm.
7) Club Aquaria - (Borivali West)
Club Aquaria, offers a lavish space for pre-wedding and wedding ceremonies. The spacious banquet is great for cocktail parties, sangeet and mehndi functions. Their decorators can do a fantastic job of decorating the terrace to complement any occasion. While you soak in the beauty of the venue, their in-house caterers can treat your guests to a delectable feast, making your special day even more memorable. Moreover, the venue has a parking space for over a 100 cars. Outside catering isn’t allowed here and alcohol is provided by the hotel itself. A DJ and a music system are available for the baaratis to shake a leg!
A little extra does not hurt anyone, does it? So to do complete justice to the title of ‘Best rooftop wedding venues’, here is a bonus venue you should definitely check-out. We thought we just could not miss out on this one!
a) Marine Plaza - Allamanda Terrace (Churchgate)
This hotel has the best rooftop view in this list of hotels and probably in the whole of Mumbai! The hotel is located along the beach and the Allamanda Terrace, named after an American flower, provides a spectacular view of the Mumbai skyline. If you’re a carefree, ‘wind-in-the-hair-do-not-care’ type of person, you’ll love this open-air venue as it occasionally witnesses some strong sea breeze which makes a wedding or even a small date more romantic.
The design on the tiles is kind of trippy but it ends up complementing the entire venue. With correct lighting and decoration, a wedding here is sure to give you the feeling of an exotic location. The hotel also has a small pool on their rooftop so you can relax after a hectic wedding event. The terrace has a floating capacity of 150 people. The hotel has a green room and the entire venue is equipped with Wi-Fi. Although it doesn’t have a music system, a DJ is allowed here with the corresponding license. Only Vegetarian food is allowed at this venue and alcohol isn’t served.
